As a member of the International Meat Secretariat (IMS), Canada Beef was able to contribute to the recent United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report which concluded that “animal source foods contribute to healthy diets,” among many other positive findings for meat. Released on April 25, the report found that animal-sourced foods, which include eggs, milk, and meat (as well as insects, and wild animals) are all a unique source of high-quality protein and many other bioavailable essential nutrients, and they contribute 18% of the global food energy consumption and 34% of the global protein consumption.” Read More |
