Introducing Canadian Beef Information Gateway Taiwan
Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Taiwan launched a Taiwanese version of the Canadian Beef Information Gateway (Gateway) in May. The Taiwan version of the Gateway uses the same concept as the original but features local content. It focuses on six of the most popular beef cuts in this market including rib eye, tenderloin, strip loin, short rib, top blade, and short plate.

A landing page introduces the Gateway with a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section to help answer consumer questions. The Taiwan Gateway is built with three simple steps—recipes for cooking inspiration, information to help consumers identify beef cuts and their appropriate cooking methods, and cooking direction for all types of cuts.

The CBII Taiwan office plans to promote Gateway at the upcoming Taipei Food Show and will launch a retail promotion in June.

Canadian beef online promotion @HKTVmall.com
Canadian beef was recently featured on HKTVmall.com, the largest online shopping mall and e-commerce platform for food and beverages in Hong Kong. Over 1.55 million users access HKTVmall.com every month.

Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) China partnered with distributor Million Far East to offer select Canadian beef products on HKTVmall.com for three weeks during February and March. The promotion featured pop-up advertising banners on the website and mobile apps on the first day of each promotional week, followed by special offers during the week.

The promotional advertising received over 440,000 views with more than 25,000 clicks. Sales increased significantly during the promotional period compared with the non-promotional period. Packaged Canadian beef sales increased from a limited amount sold prior to the promotion to over 3,580 packages of beef sold during the promotion. In addition to increased traffic and sales, the promotion enhanced awareness of Canadian beef.

COVID-19 Updates
The Chinese government announced that as of April 29, all travellers to China could take antigen tests instead of nucleic acid tests within 48 hours before boarding, and airlines will no longer check test results.

Hong Kong's economy is gradually recovering. Since local travel restrictions were fully lifted, more than 4.2 million people entered or left Hong Kong during the long holiday between the Qingming Festival and the Easter break. To stimulate the economy, the Hong Kong Government announced the issuance of a new round of consumption vouchers.
