![]() Vietnam and Taiwan buyer missions to Canada In September, the Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Taiwan/Southeast Asia/Hong Kong office collaborated with a key Vietnamese import client on an industry-focused mission to Canada. The event also brought together four business partners from the foodservice and distribution sectors to explore the Canadian beef supply chain in depth. During the same period, a major Taiwanese importer, a well-established company, visited Canada. They recently expanded their business beyond their core operations to include seafood and meat imports, including beef. Their participation highlighted the increasing interest in Canadian beef among prominent buyers in the region. Throughout the mission, delegates gained a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian beef industry through visits to purebred cattle operations, feedlots, and three of Alberta’s largest beef processors. A key highlight was the visit to the Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence, where they participated in a butchery demonstration and tasting session. This initiative strengthened the confidence of the Vietnamese partners in the Canadian beef supply chain and deepened commercial relationships with clients from both Vietnam and Taiwan, supporting the continued growth of Canadian beef in these markets. ![]() Canadian beef fair at Hong Kong supermarket YATA is a local Japanese-style supermarket with 12 locations in Hong Kong, dedicated to providing customers with high-quality fresh food. The promotion was supported by the YATA App, their official website, Facebook, in-store point-of-sale materials and in-store sampling, which successfully attracted strong consumer interest. ![]() During the seven-day fair, sales increased by 42% compared to the previous non-promotion period, demonstrating the event's effectiveness in drawing shoppers. Additionally, sales grew by 28% when compared to the Canadian Beef Fair held in August of the previous year, indicating a rising demand for Canadian beef in Hong Kong supermarkets. The success of this event highlights the growing interest in Canadian beef among consumers in Hong Kong and points to opportunities to further enhance brand awareness, expand sales, and strengthen relationships with supply chain partners and end-users.
