Resources to help navigate FOP regulations Health Canada introduced new front-of-package (FOP) nutrition labelling regulations which came into force on July 20, 2022. Canada Beef has taken a proactive approach to provide stakeholders and interested industry partners with information they will find helpful as they implement the new regulations. The new program applies to products sold at retail whether produced in Canada or imported. Under the new program, food products that meet or exceed specific thresholds for saturated fat, sugars or sodium will have to carry an FOP nutrition symbol. This will have implications for beef sold at retail. The food industry has until January 1, 2026, to comply with the new regulations. To support the beef industry’s transition to and understanding of the new program, Canada Beef has prepared some support tools for our partners and stakeholders.
