Canadian beef was well represented at ANUGA 2023, a biennial trade fair regarded as one of the most important international trade fairs for the food and beverage industries. ANUGA 2023 attracted more than 140,000 trade visitors from 200 countries and over 7,900 exhibitors from 118 nations. Canada Beef President Michael Young, Executive Director Export Market Development, Albert Eringfeld, and Canada Beef Centre of Excellence (CBCE) Studios Director Cameron Pappel, participated at the event in Cologne, Germany, from October 7 to 11. The Canada Beef team supported three Canadian beef exporters and distributors who exhibited at the Canada Beef booth. The team met with beef and meat industry representatives visiting the trade fair from many different countries around the world to learn about current beef industry trends and new market opportunities for Canadian beef exports as well as challenges. Meetings with Canadian trade commissioners in Europe visiting the trade fair also took place at the Canada Beef booth. Canadian beef samples were prepared and offered to guests visiting the booth. Three companies promoting and selling Canadian beef were also present with their own stands in the meat hall at ANUGA 2023. Canada Beef shared a combined booth with the Canadian Bison Association and was part of a larger Canadian meat pavilion, which also included Canada Pork. Exhibiting within the main meat hall at ANUGA allowed Canada Beef to have a strategic location for its booth, attracting the attention of key meat buyers and decision-makers attending the trade fair.
