CBCE presents to Guelph University Beef Science Club
The Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence (CBCE) team were invited to present to the University of Guelph, Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) Beef Science Club students during their recent visit to Alberta.

According to their website, the OAC Beef Science Club “…strives to promote interest in the beef industry.” The club of beef enthusiasts at the University discusses a variety of topics related to the beef industry and brings in speakers to talk about various topics and improvements.

The students were in Alberta to visit a number of beef-related organizations. They toured commercial, purebred, and feedlot operations, a Hutterite Colony, and met with key industry groups like Canada Beef, Alberta Beef Producers, Beef Cattle Research Council, Canadian Cattle Association, Canadian Angus Association and the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef.

On September 22, the CBCE team met the students at the Canadian Angus headquarters and delivered a presentation that included an overview of the services and resources available from the Centre. The team highlighted the library of training videos, Canada Beef's Marketing Library and the Canadian Beef Information Gateway how-to culinary videos, all of which will be useful to these budding beef industry professionals.

The team also delivered an interactive Canadian beef cutting and culinary demonstration, then used the demonstration to highlight the digital resources available.

CBCE Executive Director Mathieu Paré said the goal of the presentation was to explain the roles of Canada Beef and the Centre within the Canadian beef industry to students and young professionals who are specializing in the agriculture sector and have a special interest in the Canadian beef industry.

“We wanted to inspire future industry professionals to seek involvement in the Canadian beef industry and to describe the methods and tactics that Canada Beef and CBCE use to increase demand for Canadian beef domestically and internationally,” he said.
