 Canada Beef at FOOD TAIPEI 2022 Canada Beef participated as an exhibitor at the 2022 edition of FOOD TAIPEI, an international trade show held in Taiwan on June 22-25. Canada Beef had three newly designed booths this year that focus on the attributes of the Canadian beef brand. Canadian beef products showcased at the booth included chilled striploin, ribeye, tenderloin, short rib, chuck flap, chuck top blade, short plate, rib finger, shanks and Canadian beef burger patties. Daily sampling was provided using short rib and chuck flap, allowing visitors and potential customers to sample the different flavours offered by different beef cuts. Canadian brochures, merchandising guides and other materials were provided. Due to continued travel restrictions in Taiwan, there were limited exhibitors and visitors from abroad. Despite this, the Taipei food show still attracted over 30,000 visitors, many of whom visited the Canada Beef booths. Participation in international trade shows is an important strategy to expand awareness, increase product and brand momentum, and facilitate sales and product demand. It also provides the opportunity to maintain relationships with existing clients and meet with new clients in the Taiwan and Southeast Asia regions. COVID-19 Update In Taiwan, the daily number of infections declined to around 35,000 during the first week of July. While more people are resuming normal lives, the retail market is still relatively slow. Demand for meat should increase during the upcoming peak season (Moon Festival in August). Foodservice continues to lag as concerns around dining in public continue. Taiwan’s total beef imports year-to-date May 2022 was 59,775 tonnes with imports from Canada at 596 tonnes, up 63.29% year-over-year (YOY).
