 Calgary Co-op, a retail co-operative in Alberta, recently launched its Beef Information Gateway (Gateway). Calgary Co-op’s Gateway branding is aligned with its commitment to support local farmers and ranchers in Alberta. The co-operative sources, promotes, and exclusively offers the brand Only Alberta Black Angus Beef at 24 locations in the Calgary area. This makes the Calgary Co-op Gateway a comprehensive resource for consumers seeking information about Alberta beef. Calgary Co-op will incorporate QR codes on most packages of its fresh Alberta beef. These codes provide direct access to the Gateway. Once scanned, customers can explore a wealth of information on various aspects of beef, including expert cooking tips, recipes with instructional videos, nutritional information, proper preparation methods, and more.   Canada Beef recently released the latest scanning innovation for the Gateway. This feature allows consumers to scan existing barcodes on beef packages at over 30 different retailers, including Calgary Co-op, and be directed to an information page on the Gateway specific to the cut of beef they scanned. Canada Beef Canadian Beef Information Gateway Director Kelly Hyde said Calgary Co-op is helping to promote its Gateway in other ways. “In addition to the on-pack labels, they have promoted the Gateway on Instagram, in their flyer and in direct emails to all their members,” she said. “We look forward to collaborating with Calgary Co-op to engage their customers in using and benefiting from the Gateway.” To access Calgary Co-op's Beef Information Gateway, visit here.
