From April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, 53 projects were completed under Canada Beef’s Export Market Development (EMD) partner program. This was the greatest number of projects completed during a one-year period under this program, now entering its sixth year. Thirty-four unique applicants received funding for projects supporting initiatives in 10 distinct export markets. Seven Canadian beef packers benefited from the financial support provided by the program.

Activities supporting Canadian beef suppliers and their international partners and clients during the fourth quarter of this fiscal year continued to be very active. Projects completed included:
  • A Japanese importer and their retail client received support to visit their Canadian beef packer supplier to develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef.
  • A Taiwanese restaurant operator received support to visit a Canadian beef packer supplier to develop new Canadian beef programs for some of their restaurant banners.
  • A Mexican importer and restaurant operator received support to visit three Canadian beef packer suppliers to identify and develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef brands at their restaurants.
  • A Korean importer and their retail client received support to visit their Canadian beef packer supplier to further develop new export opportunities for their Canadian beef brands.
  • Two Canadian beef suppliers and one Canadian beef importer received support to attend and exhibit at the Gulfood 2025 show in Dubai. The goal was to identify new contacts and develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef in the Middle East region.
  • Two Vietnamese importers and distributors received support to promote their Canadian beef brands at major retail client outlets throughout Vietnam.
  • A Vietnamese importer received support to hold a series of Canadian beef brand workshops and tasting events in collaboration with a local restaurant operator, targeting local restaurant owners and foodservice distributors.
  • A Vietnamese importer received support to promote their Canadian beef brands at the Food and Hotel Vietnam show.

Canada Beef’s EMD program provides cost-shared funding support to help facilitate export market growth for Canadian beef representative company-initiated projects and activities in five categories.
