New WHO guidelines for infant feeding shared at webinar Canada Beef recently worked with Spark Nutrition Communications to deliver an important webinar about infant feeding guidelines to Registered Dietitians (RD). This webinar was particularly significant in light of Health Canada’s announcement that they will be revising the Canadian infant feeding guidelines. Canada Beef wanted to highlight the newly published World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines ahead of this Health Canada work. The WHO guidelines clearly and strongly promote red meat, including recommending beef for babies. The webinar featured three expert nutrition speakers and included presentations on the WHO guidelines, Pediatric RD takeaways, and practical strategies in the kitchen, including how to feed beef to babies. These were followed by a lively question-and-answer session. The webinar garnered significant interest with over 750 registrants. Participants gave the presentation a high rating and more than 80% of those registered were dietitians. Canada Beef Health and Nutrition Director Karine Rekunyk noted that the timing of the webinar was important. “We wanted to make sure that dietitians were aware of the WHO guidelines and that their recommendations around red meat were top-of-mind ahead of the Health Canada consultation,” she said. Webinar participants were asked for feedback, including the following question: “How does this webinar compare to other webinars you have recently attended?” Seventy-seven per cent of respondents indicated it was better or much better. Comments received about the webinar cited quality of information and instruction, and practical, effective, and implementable advice. Back to main page KARINE REKUNYK Director, Health and Nutrition |
