Canadian Beef educational presentation and beef cutting workshop Canada Beef partnered with Carnes Premium XO to target the B2B trade market in the city of Saltillo (Coahuila State) to offer an educational presentation and beef cutting/sampling workshop. The educational content featured both Carnes Premium XO’s beef and meat market price trends and highlighted Canadian beef products available. Also presented was information on Canada Beef’s focus on meat quality and safety assurance systems. The seminar emphasized the strict Canadian beef production processes in addition to the equivalences and key differences between the U.S. and Canadian beef grading systems. To support Carnes Premium XO’s sales strategies and increase awareness of available Canadian beef cuts in the target regions, Canada Beef provided detailed information about the marketing and service programs available for the distributor’s customers. The initiative included a beef cutting demonstration and sampling conducted by Canada Beef’s brand ambassador Chef Federico López, and Master Grill Gualberto Elizondo (Weber). The initiative was a success, and attracted 30 foodservice customers (chefs and owners) from the State of Coahuila (Saltillo and Torreon), Chihuahua, and Tamaulipas (Tampico). Chef Lopez talked about the culinary aspects and advantages for restaurants when utilizing Canadian beef grades in terms of consistent standards, tenderness, and beef flavour. Featured cuts were sirloin cap, flap meat, outside skirt and ribeye. The event provided Carnes Premium XO with increased interest in Canadian beef products and generated several business leads in this region. COVID-19 update Mexico's COVID advisory rating has moved down to Level 3 (high risk) from Level 4 (very high). Mexico remains open to travellers. The requirement to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival has been dropped although there are some health screenings at airports. Since March 2022, travellers to the country no longer need to fill out a health declaration form nor need to take a test before departure or undertake any form of quarantine. Some Mexican states or cities have tighter restrictions. Mexico has had almost 5.65 million official cases of COVID-19, almost 323,000 deaths as of March 31, and has administered 191.9 million vaccine doses. All states are green under the traffic light system, including popular destinations of Baja California (Los Cabos), Guanajuato (San Miguel Allende) Jalisco (Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta), Mexico City and Quintana Roo (Cancun and Playa del Carmen). In Mexico City, authorities announced that pandemic indicators are at their lowest levels, so the recommendation to wear the mask outdoors has been already lifted. According to the Health Council of Mexico City, the spread of the virus is at its lowest numbers since the start of the pandemic two years ago. The council recommends that the population continue to exercise caution and use masks in outdoor places where there are crowds and the inability to distance.
