 Canada Beef extends its sincere appreciation to Judy Charlebois, Senior Manager, Operations, who retired on March 31, 2022, after nearly 29 years of service to the Canadian beef industry. As Canada Beef’s longest-serving employee, Charlebois has been an integral part of the organization’s success, history and evolution. She joined the organization in its previous iteration, the Beef Information Centre (BIC) as a secretary in June 1993. At that time, BIC had been responsible for domestic beef market development since 1973. In her time at BIC, Charlebois worked with nine chairpersons and countless committee members. She was present for the transition to Canada Beef, which became the official marketing agency for Canadian beef on July 1, 2011, following the merger of the assets, operations, liabilities and funding of BIC, the Canadian Beef Export Federation, and the Canadian Beef Cattle Research, Market Development and Promotion Agency. Between BIC and Canada Beef, Charlebois would serve five different CEOs/presidents over the course of her career. She spent the last three years serving under Canada Beef President Michael Young, who recognized Charlebois as a model employee for the organization. “Judy always demonstrated a high degree of dedication, hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence in her areas of responsibility,” he said. Ron Glaser, Canada Beef Vice President, Corporate Affairs, added fellow staff members could attest to how Charlebois’ professionalism and oversight in the operational areas helped support and enable the organization to function at a high level. “We appreciate everything Judy has accomplished during her career and she will be missed,” he said. Charlebois’ immediate plans include spending more time with her husband and family while enjoying the fruits of a productive career.
