Expocarnes 2023
After a four-year absence due to the COVID pandemic, the 2023 edition of ExpoCarnes y Lácteos exhibition (Meat and Dairy Trade Fair), organized by the Mexican Meat Council, took place in the City of Monterrey from February 21 to 23. The event had a record attendance of over 10,000 visitors and 400 exhibitor companies from 20 countries. Attendees included high-level executives and decision-makers from the meat and dairy sectors, industry professionals, researchers, processors, packers, small and medium-sized companies, restaurateurs, and retailers.

The Canada Beef booth featured representatives from two Canadian packers and six major beef importers/distributors that promoted their Canadian beef brands and programs. The Canadian beef team and brand ambassadors Federico López and Karla Sentíes conducted hourly Canadian Beef Advantage presentations and demonstrations of six different beef cuts provided by the distributors. There were also live cutting demonstrations in the booth by master butcher Chef Jaime Cavazos.

Many attendees visited the booth where they sampled featured beef cuts, some prepared at the booth by the chefs and some cooked off-site. Different preparation techniques were highlighted such as sous-vide, grilling, smoking, pan-searing, tartars, slow-cooking and oven-roasting. The beef cuts sampled included tri-tip, rib eye, cuts from the chuck, strip loin, teres major, brisket, beef tongue, tenderloin, short rib, flap meat, inside/outside skirt and flat iron. The Canadian beef distributors participated in the booth during the show, cooked alongside the Chefs and spoke with attendees. This interaction provided the opportunity to talk about their Canadian beef brands, beef cut offerings and available resources.

To enhance the networking opportunity with current and potential customers, business partners and colleagues Cargill representatives along with Canada Beef, hosted a cocktail event. There were 90 guests from Mexico and Latin America markets in attendance at the event which showcased a well-designed menu of Canadian beef entrees prepared by top Chef Alberto Sentíes.

The 2023 edition of ExpoCarnes provided visitors with increased knowledge of Canadian beef programs and services, highlighted distributors in Mexico and showcased different beef cuts available in the country.
