![]() Canada Beef at two important health conferences Canada Beef’s Health and Nutrition team recently attended two major conferences: the Family Medicine Forum (FMF) and the Diabetes Canada (DC) Annual Conference. The FMF conference attracted 4,000 attendees, including primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and trainees. The DC conference brought together 2,000 participants, mainly nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and academics involved in diabetes education or research. These conferences provided Canada Beef with the opportunity to connect directly with a wide range of health professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, dietitians, academics, and students in health-related fields, for in-person, in-depth discussions on important beef and health topics. According to Karine Rekunyk, Canada Beef’s director of health and nutrition, attending these conferences provides opportunities to engage with influential health professionals to educate, inform, and dispel myths about a range of important beef and health topics. It also facilitates the promotion of health brochures and culinary resources that health professionals can order to support their patients. At the FMF conference, the focus was on iron. Canada Beef released a new fact sheet, “Food Sources of Iron,” and highlighted new research on iron status among teen girls in Canada. A related resource, “Iron for Teen Girls,” was also promoted. At the DC conference, Canada Beef launched the new cooking booklet, “Dinner in Balance,” developed in collaboration with Diabetes Canada to align with their recipe nutrition guidelines. ![]() Back to main page ![]() KARINE REKUNYK Director, Health and Nutrition |
