Taiwanese and Vietnamese buyers of Canadian beef visit Canada
Canada Beef’s Export Market Development Program (EMD) and the Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Taiwan/Southeast Asia/Hong Kong office organized three buyer missions to Alberta in November. These included a Taiwanese importer, a Vietnamese importer and a Vietnamese retailer, as well as their industry clients. All participants experienced their first visits to Canadian beef packing plants, observed cattle farming practices at a feedlot, and participated in butchery demonstrations and beef tasting programs at the Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence in Calgary, Alberta.

The three buyers are long-standing strategic partners for Canadian beef in Taiwan and Vietnam. The two importers from Taiwan and Vietnam are well-established companies that primarily distribute imported meats to foodservice and wholesale channels. The Vietnamese retailer is a nationwide retail brand with an estimated 200 stores specializing in imported beef and food items. Their visit to Canada provided opportunities to explore new beef brands and strengthened their business relationships with Canadian beef exporters and partners.
