Canadian beef cooking class in Hokkaido
Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Japan recently supported a successful in-store sampling promotion at Don Quijote supermarket, one of the largest retail groups in Japan.

Following the sampling event, CBII partnered with the supermarket chain to produce a cooking class in Sapporo, Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture in Japan. The December 8, 2024, event included 30 parent-child pairs (60 people) invited from Don Quijote's customer base.

The promotional cooking event featured popular cooking expert and Instagram influencer Chiori preparing and serving delicious dishes made with Canadian beef. Her presentation also featured information about Canadian beef’s nutritional value. Chiori is a popular recipe developer, food stylist and mother with 397,000 Instagram followers. Her Instagram account showcases artistic dishes featuring interesting colours and textures.

Her simple recipes, created for this event and delivered via her Instagram account, provided new ideas for busy working mothers. The posts netted 70,000 impressions for this event.

This event allowed Canada Beef to differentiate itself from its competitors by collaborating with the supermarket to promote quality beef in the community. It also increased sales volume and consumer awareness of the Canadian brand in the region.

Coex Food Week
Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Korea participated in Coex Food Week 2024, held November 20-23, in collaboration with Atlantic Beef Products, Bouvry, Cargill, and JBS. Together, they showcased Canadian beef to food and beverage industry professionals and general consumers. The event attracted approximately 63,000 visitors over four days, a 26% increase from the previous year.

Korean importers of Canadian beef joined forces to staff the booths and engage with existing and prospective buyers from retailers, food manufacturers, foodservice companies, and distributors. Discussions focused on potential business and promotional opportunities. Members from the Canada Beef roadshow delegation attended the exhibition's opening day, supporting Canadian beef suppliers and strengthening relationships with Korean partners.

To draw more visitors and offer a firsthand experience of Canadian beef, CBII Korea organized tasting events featuring a professional chef. The chef prepared popular Canadian beef cuts, such as flat iron, finger meat, outside skirt, and hanging tender, four times daily. Approximately 1,600 attendees enjoyed the sampling events, where they learned about the benefits of Canadian beef, discovered CBII Korea’s Instagram page, and received practical cooking tips.
