 Canada Beef and Alberta Beef Producers show how to Make the Most of Beef For the third consecutive year, Canada Beef partnered with Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) to bring influencer and Pit Master Mel Chmilar Jr. and his popular Darkside of the Grill demonstrations to Farmfair International. Over 120 attendees, largely consumers and producers, enjoyed Chmilar’s four cooking demonstrations, along with Canada Beef President Eric Bienvenue (shown below with Chmilar).   This consumer marketing initiative helped address consumer concerns about the value of Canadian beef via the promotion of the Make the Most of Beef booklet, which is co-branded with ABP. The event also provided an opportunity to promote consumer interest in and use of the Canadian Beef Information Gateway (Gateway). Drawing inspiration from Canada Beef’s Make the Most of Beef booklet, Chmilar demonstrated how to take a full sirloin tip and break it down into oven roasts, steaks, and smaller fast-fry steaks. He highlighted how this technique could save consumers on their grocery bills. He and his team then fired up their outdoor grill, cooked a sirloin tip and offered tasty samples to all attendees. Chmilar also introduced several delectable sauce recipes from the Gateway, designed to enhance the natural flavours of Alberta-raised Canadian beef. Farmfair International, one of Canada’s premier agricultural events, took place in Edmonton, Alberta, from November 6 to 9, 2024.
