 Canada Beef support at Salon de Gourmets in Spain Canada Beef’s Export Market Development Program provides cost-shared funding support for eligible Canadian beef representative-company initiated projects and activities with the goals of increasing Canadian beef export volumes and value.  Via this program, Canada Beef recently supported a Canadian beef importer in Spain to highlight and promote Canadian beef offered by their company to meat buyers in Spain via their booth at Salon de Gourmets, one of the largest Fine Food and Beverages Fairs in Europe. The importer reported that there was strong interest in Canadian beef by meat buyers from the Spanish foodservice and retail sectors attending the show. At the same show and in collaboration with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Spain, a Canadian beef presentation and Canadian beef cooking demonstration took place at the main culinary stage. Canada was the featured nation at this year’s Salon de Gourmets show. Adding additional exposure and media attention at this event was the participation of Canadian Ambassador to Spain Wendy Drukier. Due to the fine work of Canadian beef partners in the market and the high quality of the beef supplied, Spain is an emerging market for Canadian beef exports to Europe.
