Complimentary copy of encyclopedia available to Canada Beef Performs subscribers.

For the second year in a row, Canada Beef is pleased to provide family-friendly nutritional information as part of its Baby at the Table consumer campaign, in the latest edition of the Baby & Child Care Encyclopedia. The campaign focuses on the importance of iron for growing babies. The Information included in the 2021/2022 edition of the Baby & Child Care Encyclopedia is provided through a Support Partner program between ParentsCanada and the Canada Beef Generic Consumer Marketing investment, Thinkbeef.ca.

The Baby & Child Care Encyclopedia 2021/2022 by ParentsCanada contains 114-pages of essential information for child-rearing from birth through the kindergarten years. All health information in the second edition is reviewed by Canadian health professionals to ensure accurate, vetted and trusted information for readers.

Iron-containing foods are essential for babies’ growth and development. By six months of age, an infant’s iron reserves are depleted and foods that have iron are needed. The Thinkbeef.ca sponsored chapter on Family Nutrition cites the Health Canada recommendation that iron-containing sources of food like beef, chicken, fish, tofu, beans and eggs should be introduced first.

“Beef is one of nature’s best sources of iron and makes sense as one of baby’s first solid foods,” said Karine Rekunyk, RD, director health and nutrition for Canada Beef. “Introducing nourishing foods at the family table at six months of age will help develop healthy eating habits for life.”

The encyclopedia is available in digital flipbook format and print editions. In the digital flipbook, Chapter 5, Family Nutrition, contains the Thinkbeef.ca sponsored information and QR code accessible recipes driving readers to the Thinkbeef.ca website. These pages feature the Thinkbeef logo and URL, and colour-coordinated blue vertical page edges.

Canada Beef has 600 copies of the printed encyclopedia for circulation. The book retails for $11.95 and readers of Canada Beef Performs can click here to get their complimentary copy of the Baby & Child Care Encyclopedia by ParentsCanada (courtesy of Thinkbeef.ca).

The digital sponsored content will be promoted on the ParentsCanada website, newsletter and social channels over the next six months. The printed version (100,000 copies) will be distributed by ParentsCanada through the retailer Toys R Us.

Dietitians across Canada (reaching >9,000 RD’s) will also see the information via promotion in the Dietitians of Canada newsletter.
