Canada Beef display contest boosts brand recognition Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Japan and Inageya Supermarket teamed up to create an autumn holiday campaign, including a display contest, to drive new customer trials and encourage repeat purchases from loyal customers. Inageya is a major supermarket in the Greater Tokyo area, selling Canadian beef at its 133 locations. The Canadian beef display contest centred on providing prizes to the Inageya stores that created the best displays featuring Canadian beef. CBII Japan made available a new display kit that included Canadian beef shelf talkers, wobblers, and signage featuring photos of cooked Canadian beef. The goal was to highlight ideas for great-tasting main dishes to inspire customers to purchase Canadian beef. This contest drew 31 entries from some of Inageya’s largest stores. Many entries emphasized the quality aspects of Canadian beef, such as Canada’s grading system and high-quality food safety standards, in addition to developing innovative cross-merchandising schemes. Prizes were awarded to first and second place winners, and all 31 locations received a Canada Beef commendation shield as a participation award. This project supported Canadian beef brand recognition and created positive public relations with the target customers. Additional retail display contests are planned for all retailers selling Canadian beef in Japan. Back to main page Japan and South Korea Team Yuko Onizawa, Ichiro Kiyotomi, Takako Toyama, YG Shin |
