EMD program supports visitors from Japan Canada Beef’s Export Market Development (EMD) program actively supported a number of Canadian beef importers, distributors, and their retail and foodservice clients from Japan this summer. Five different incoming groups from Japan received support under the program from June to September. Their schedules included visits to cattle breeding farms, feedlots, packing plants, retailers, restaurants as well as the Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence. During their visits, Japanese clients learned more about the Canadian Beef Advantage. They discussed and reviewed product specifications and marketing strategies with their Canadian beef suppliers. The groups were also exposed to new merchandising ideas for alternative and underutilized Canadian beef cuts. Canada Beef’s EMD program provides cost-shared funding support to help facilitate export market growth for Canadian beef representative company-initiated projects and activities in five main strategic categories.
