Canadian beef festival at Moorigins Steak
Moorigins Steak is a restaurant brand focused on imported high-quality steak with 20 locations across China. Founded in 2016, they are long-time partners of the Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) in China.

This year, CBII partnered with Moorigins Steak to deliver a Canadian beef promotion at all locations across China from April 24 to July 31. During the promotion, guests were able to order one ribeye steak entrée and receive the second ribeye entrée at 50% off. This promotion, designed to drive Canadian beef sales, was launched with an event at one of the company’s flagship restaurants.

The Canadian Consulate in Chongqing was invited along with the Canadian Consul and trade commissioner. The event was also well attended and covered by the local media.

The promotion had excellent results with over 130,000 Canadian beef steaks sold; sales during the first three days of promotion were up 40% compared to the non-promotional period.

China COVID-19 update
The recent resurgence of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant has caused an increasing number of infections in several Chinese cities. However, the impact of this latest round of outbreaks on the national economy is limited and controlled as the government has taken the necessary actions to stem the virus spread while restoring normal social and economic operations. Market demand and supply remained steady in July amid government measures to coordinate COVID-19 controls including disaster relief and economic growth stimulus.

As the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hong Kong remains under control and with support from the Mainland, Hong Kong's economy will continue to recover. The first round of a local consumption digital coupon launched by the Hong Kong government achieved positive results. Local consumption of retail and foodservice operations saw increased traffic from the first day of the coupon launch.

Taiwan update
The Canada Beef Taiwan website (canadabeef.tw) has been refreshed and offers a new look for Taiwan consumers visiting the website. Launched September 1, the new canadabeef.tw website features new functions and updated information for Taiwanese consumers and partners.

The new design is an extension of Canada Beef’s main website (canadabeef.ca) and the Canadian Beef Performs site (cdnbeefperforms.ca). The new Taiwanese website features sections on health and nutrition and cooking know-how where visitors can access nutrition fact sheets and beef cooking and storage techniques and recipes.

The team also created a partner-only section for Canadian beef business partners. In this section, partners will have access to beef statistics, promotional resources, packer information and a list of local importers.

The website is updated monthly, with new content highlighted in a what’s new section.
