Seoul Food & Hotel show
Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Korea participated in Seoul Food & Hotel 2024, Korea's largest food and hospitality trade show. The team joined forces with other Canadian premium food products in the Canada pavilion. Approximately 53,300 food and beverage industry members visited the show during the four days, an increase of about 27% over last year.

Leading Canada Beef supply partners participated at the booth to showcase some of the Canadian beef cuts popular in Korea. Korean importers of Canadian beef also staffed the booth, meeting with existing and potential buyers from retail, food manufacturing, foodservice companies, and distributors to discuss business opportunities.

The team offered a tasting event featuring a professional chef who grilled popular Canadian beef cuts including flat iron, finger meat, chuck flap and hanging tender. Samples were offered four times a day allowing visitors to taste Canadian beef while hearing about its attributes and receiving cooking tips.

CBII Korea will participate with a booth at Korea’s Coex Food Week in November, providing another opportunity to promote Canadian beef and support Canadian beef suppliers and their Korean importers and distributors.

Canada Beef seminar in Okinawa
Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Japan presented a Canadian beef demand-building seminar for beef industry representatives in Okinawa on July 9, right at the start of the tourist season. This was the first time CBII Japan held a seminar in the region, and it provided a great opportunity to meet with local buyers and in-market partners.

Okinawa is a popular tourist destination, with over 8 million tourists visiting the city in 2023—an increase of 45% over the previous year. Foodservice is a vital part of the city’s tourism industry and there are many restaurant companies in the region.

At the seminar, CBII Japan Senior Director Ichiro Kiyotomi delivered a presentation on the current state of the Canadian beef industry and highlighted the marketing programs and services available to partners. Representatives from Cargill Japan, JBS Japan, and Ontario Corn Fed Beef also delivered presentations. These speakers were followed by a Canadian beef cutting demonstration by a Federal Meat Academy instructor.

Kiyotomi welcomed guests to a networking reception and Canadian beef tasting session following the seminar. The event was well attended by 80 industry representatives, and a number of important leads and business opportunities were identified. According to feedback from attendees, they were so impressed they suggested it become an annual event.
