 Canada Day activities Canada Beef participated in three initiatives in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey on June 27, June 30, and July 2, respectively, to celebrate Canada Day. The Consulate General in Guadalajara hosted a cocktail reception where Canadian beef was highlighted through the presentation of beef appetizers sponsored by a local beef importer. Canada Beef marketing materials were available at the event. A reception hosted by the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City attracted 400 guests. The Canadian Ambassador gave a celebratory presentation, joined by members of the Mexican Government. Canada Beef and a Canadian packer attended as part of the sponsoring organizations. The event included a culinary area that featured Canadian beef burgers prepared with ground beef chuck roll. A video on the Canadian Beef Advantage (CBA) was played during the event. A reception event in Monterrey hosted by the Consulate General of Canada in partnership with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Canada Beef attracted 200 guests. Participants included industry members, private sector leaders, entrepreneurs, Canadian companies, and government representatives. Guests enjoyed different beef cuts and appetizers prepared by Chef Jaime Cavazos on behalf of Canada Beef. Graham Clark, Ambassador of Canada to Mexico, Sandra Shaddick, Consul General of Canada in Monterrey, and Jorge Arrambide, President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey provided welcome speeches. Claudia Herrera-Blanc, Director of Market Development, Mexico and Latin America for Canada Beef also welcomed guests. Chef Cavazos conducted an on-site cooking show during the event which was broadcast live through social media platforms. He demonstrated a breakdown of two primal pieces which were then cooked and served to guests. Cargill provided the beef for the event. The event highlighted the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Consulate in Monterrey, and the 50th anniversary of Canada Beef. Watch the 2-minute video from the Canada Day reception in Monterrey.
