Canada Beef Japan launches Canadian Beef Information Gateway Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Japan recently launched the Canadian Beef Information Gateway (Gateway), an initiative that aims to educate consumers on beef cuts via a scannable QR code. The Gateway supports further market development of Canadian beef in Japan. CBII partnered with retail customer Kinsho Store to launch the Gateway at 35 locations. This first phase of the Gateway features the five best-selling Canadian beef cuts in Japan - namely chuck eye roll steak, sliced chuck eye roll, outside skirt, top blade and short plate. Consumers scan the QR code shown on the on-pack Gateway label to access the landing page of Gateway Japan, where they can choose a recipe available on the CBII Japan website. Each beef cut has a digital profile with essential information, including a description, recommended cooking methods, recipes, and ‘hands-in-pans” instructional videos. View a video of the Sukiyaki recipe here. Making it easy to access information about Canadian beef during purchase and preparation will enhance customer satisfaction. Scanning the Gateway QR with a smartphone or tablet provides consumers with content that inspires them to try new beef cuts, recipes, and preparation methods.
