 Canadian beef promotion event in Qatar In collaboration with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Qatar, Canada Beef provided support for a Canadian beef promotion as part of a wider Canadian food products promotion in the market. The event showcased Canadian culinary expertise through the use of high-quality Canadian food products. New and existing Canadian suppliers showcased their goods to local distributors, restaurateurs, chefs and other key players in the Qatar food industry. The one-day event served as a launch for Canadian beef promotion in Qatar, building profile and generating demand for Canadian beef among local foodservice industry contacts and supporting Canadian beef suppliers interested in exporting to Qatar. There were 35 Qatar food industry representatives at the event along with one experienced Canadian beef distributor based in the Middle East representing three Canadian beef processors. Additional Canadian beef promotions will follow depending on the success and interest from this initial launch. In 2021, Qatar granted market access for under 30 months boneless Canadian beef, and this was the first opportunity to launch a Canadian beef promotion in this new and emerging market. The Middle East region is a growing market for Canadian beef exports. Top export destinations for Canadian beef to the Middle East region in 2021 were Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates with a combined total volume of 2,431 MT valued at CAD $20.54 million.
