Canada Beef was pleased to participate in the 2022 Alberta Beef Industry Conference (ABIC) in Red Deer in June. The return to an in-person gathering at one of Canada’s largest beef conventions and tradeshows provided an excellent opportunity to engage producer and industry stakeholders firsthand about Canada Beef. ABIC is hosted by the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association, Alberta Auction Markets Association, Alberta Beef Producers, Alberta Livestock Dealers and Order Buyers, and the Western Stock Growers Association. In addition to taking in the excellent presentations, Canada Beef engaged on top-of-mind issues for producers such as consumer marketing opportunities and challenges, international beef export trends, and proposed FOP labelling. The team reminded producers and industry stakeholders that as a check-off funded organization Canada Beef cannot assume a lobby/policy role with government, however, it can and does provide technical resources and information and materials that are further leveraged by policy organizations. The event also provided the opportunity to distribute promotional materials about the Canadian Beef Information Gateway and showcase the programs, resources and services provided by Canada Beef. Canada Beef looks forward to engaging with beef producers and stakeholders at the Canadian Beef Industry Conference 2022 in Penticton, B.C. August 16-18. Back to main page |
