Beef producers are a proud lot who take tremendous pride in their work to raise a high quality, nutritious and delicious protein for the world. Starting this month, they will literally be able to wear their pride on their chest, or sleeve, or hat, or t-shirt, thanks to a new initiative from Canada Beef.

The Beef Pride eStore launched this first week of July and it is truly a destination for beef lovers everywhere. The online store offers a wide range of pro-beef products to let the entire family get their beef pride on in a fun and engaging way. Wearables that feature lighthearted slightly sarcastic slogans such as Beef is the New Beef, Keeping it Real Since Forever, and The One & Only Beef are sure to appeal to stakeholders and beef lovers alike, while Keep Calm and Graze On speaks to the eco-service benefits that cattle provide: healthy soil, wildlife biodiversity and more.



The slogans originated with Canada Beef’s award-winning One & Only Beef campaign that playfully challenged the debate of fake beef vs. real beef as part of a larger campaign to remind people why they love real beef, and that beef belongs on their plate. The campaign’s extensive testing had already demonstrated that the slogans resonated with consumers, so it made sense for Canada Beef to ask producers about which slogans they liked the best, said Joyce Parslow, Canada Beef executive director, consumer marketing.

With so many ideal items up for sale, producers will also appreciate that the Beef Pride eStore operates on a cost-recovery basis (Canada Beef is a not-for-profit after all) so purchasers of goods will also pay shipping costs. The product line-up does not compete with provincial beef cattle association goods, Parslow said.

Producer involvement has played a role in the inspiration for the Beef Pride eStore from the get-go. For example, the idea for the flags came about when a producer contacted Canada Beef saying she wanted to fly a Canadian Beef branded flag on her property and asked how they could accommodate her request. Canada Beef jumped at the idea because it can be challenging to identify items that producers are interested in, or see the value in doing. “This is an excellent example of how Canada Beef is being responsive to our stakeholders and in this case, putting their ideas into play,” Parslow said.

The 36” x 72” flag (made of premium 200 Denier Nylon) flies like a dream and makes a great flag (of course) or get creative and use it as a durable picnic tablecloth. The $79.94 flag can be purchased separately or as part of the Wave your Flag starter kit – one of four themed kits with names such as A License to Grill, Join the Meating, and Look What’s Cooking. The starter kits range from $45 to $195 and contain as a baseline offering a 16-page recipe book, Swedish dishcloths, lapel pins, buttons, washable tattoos and vinyl decals that are perfect for a laptop or a bumper sticker, plus extra items that complement the theme.
