Awareness campaign to promote Canada Beef´s participation at retailer expo Canada Beef participated in the Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria México 2022 in Guadalajara May 17-19. ANTAD is the National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores. To build awareness with potential attendees and drive interest in visiting Canada Beef’s booth, Canada Beef’s Latin America and Mexico (LATAM) office launched a multi-channel campaign with Retailers.mx magazine prior to the show. Retailers.mx is the official communication platform of ANTAD (www.antad.net), and GS1 México (www.gs1mexico.org/es/), a promoter of electronic commerce in Mexico. The Expo ANTAD stands out for being one of the most important for the retail sector in Latin America. Canada Beef LATAM´s outreach campaign was designed to let retail customers and prospects know about the services, promotional activities and extensive digital and printed resources that Canada Beef offers to its commercial partners. To build awareness of the brand's value, Retailers.mx shared an interview with CB LATAM's Market Development Director on their website. The interview covered Canada Beef’s mission at the Expo, its trade partners who showcased beef products, and its booth locations at the Main Hall and within the Canadian Pavilion in the International Hall. You can read the interview here: https://retailers.mx/canada-beef-en-expo-antad-alimentaria-mexico-2022/ In addition, readers were invited to attend the beef sampling taking place every day at the booth; another point made during the interview was an explanation of the difference in beef quality grades between Canada and the U.S. Canada Beef also displayed a Canadian beef promotional video and a banner on the Retailers.mx homepage, highlighting Mexican distributors’ logos and contact information. The platform audience has over 17,000 monthly unique users, 35,000 monthly visits and an estimated 31,000 page views. The geographic location of viewers is mainly from Mexico (83%) with the rest from Latin America. Watch for photos and coverage of the expo in next month’s issue of Canada Beef Performs. COVID-19 Update Mexico remains open to travellers. There is no requirement to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival, but health screenings are still in place at most airports. The country has had 5.74 million cases of COVID-19, just over 324,000 deaths as of May 3 and has administered 198.5 million doses of vaccine. As of May 2, Mexico remains at Level 2 (moderate) for COVID-19 transmission. After 12 weeks of continuous decline in cases from COVID-19, Mexico is registering an increase in cases and deaths, most of it in younger age groups, where there is less vaccination coverage. Most of the cases are occurring in the age groups of 18 to 29 years, followed by the group of 30 to 39, and 40 to 49 years. All told, 52% of all cases reported to date have occurred in women, and 62% of deaths in men. The Ministry of Health has considered that Mexico is facing an interpandemic period and is recommending not to relax public health measures because of a resurgence of new concern variants and a greater opportunity for transmission. Eventually one of these variants could cause a more serious health situation or clinical case. The Ministry warned that positive COVID test rates are still high, so it is likely that this situation will continue.
