Canadian beef retail campaign in Vietnam The CBII Taiwan office partnered with Canadian beef import partner TD Food to hold a series of retail promotions from July 2021 to March 2022. A total of 80 in-store sampling and sales activities were conducted at five key retail outlets in Hanoi City, Vietnam. The activities were designed to increase Canadian beef brand awareness and included the distribution of flyers highlighting Canadian beef’s key attributes to educate Vietnamese consumers. Digital ads were also created and published on select Vietnamese online media platforms and generated over 600k views. In November, TD Food launched its own meat specialty shop in Hanoi with Canadian beef products available and on display. CBII Taiwan has been collaborating with TD Food to launch Canadian beef at high-end fresh food supermarkets since 2017. Recently they expanded the Canadian beef category to packer-branded beef. The unique branding has been well-received by Vietnamese consumers and sales continue to grow. Canadian beef exports to Vietnam increased 72% in volume and 109% in value YOY in 2021, to 12,110 metric tonnes (MT) in 2021 from 7,042 MT in 2020. With the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) taking full effect in 2020 with zero tariffs for Canadian beef, the opportunity in the Vietnam market continues to be positive.
