Radio broadcasts and podcasts
Radio broadcast has adapted to the internet age and one of the most successful adaptations is the podcast. Podcasts are recorded audio programs that can be downloaded and/or streamed and listened to on portable devices or a computer.

In the context of utilizing the listeners’ imagination to create mental pictures, Chef Lulu Pedraza shared her favourite recipe secrets with the audience of a popular radio station segment in Nuevo Leon State, “Aqui Entre Nos, Genesis 98.1”. These 25 spots took place during March and April—she also provided quick facts and information about Canadian beef during these segments.

These 3-6 minute live interviews proved to be a popular channel for communicating with our target audience of caterers, restaurants and consumers. The interaction included inviting listeners to visit Canada Beef’s social media platforms to search for specific posts to participate in weekly giveaways of a Canadian beef cookbook, as well as welcoming people who had prepared the beef recipe to share their opinions. This created traffic to social media platforms and provided insight into the impact and effectiveness of the initiative. Radio broadcasts were also available on the LATAM website, allowing information and recipes to be shared with other Latin American countries such as Colombia, Guatemala, Chile and the Caribbean, where several cookbooks were couriered.

The related post on social media reached 734,675 people; 1,602,641 impressions and 4,362 profile visits in addition to the radio broadcast audience and its more than 500,000 social media followers. See the posts here.

COVID-19 Update
The degree of pandemic risk in Mexico has been steadily improving nationwide, and since April 1, none of the 32 states has been required to halt all nonessential activities under the strictest tier—called the “red traffic light”—of the federal government’s traffic light monitoring system. The traffic light system also shows improvement across the other three categories, in decreasing order of restriction: 5 states in orange status; 19 in yellow status and 8 in green status. However, the government continues to be concerned about the increased mobility during the vacation season that may result in a third pandemic wave and therefore is urging the public to continue exercising caution by observing preventative measures, such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing. All airline passengers must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel and those entering Mexico may be subject to temperature checks and additional health screening, facing the possibility of being returned or asked to quarantine in Mexico. The United States and Mexico entered a joint initiative on March 21, 2020, restricting all travel along the U.S.-Mexico land border to prevent the spread of the virus; which remains in place as of April 21, 2021. Economic activity improved its performance due to exports, fewer restrictions in the services sector and progress in vaccination. Going forward, the positive effect will continue if restrictions are kept to a minimum. However, although there was an improvement in export manufacturing and the domestic market, there would be complications with the third wave of COVID-19 and public policy decisions and initiatives that have been made.
