Canada Beef participates in two major trade shows in Japan
Trade shows continue to play an important role in the food industry’s marketing efforts. Canada Beef International Institute (CBII) Japan recently participated in two major trade shows, exhibiting with Canadian beef supplier representatives to promote Canadian beef.

The Supermarket Trade Show is the largest trade show targeting supermarket buyers. Held in the Tokyo area from February 14-16, 2024, the show attracted over 75,858 buyers (a 20% increase over last year). The show was well-attended, with many visitors to the CBII Japan booth, where Canadian beef demonstrations and sampling took place. Many productive meetings were held at the venue with current and prospective retail customers. Canada Beef President Michael Young, Incoming President Eric Bienvenue, and Executive Director, Export Market Development, Albert Eringfeld attended the show, taking the opportunity to collect new market intelligence from Canadian beef clients and partners visiting the show.

CBII Japan participated in Foodex Japan 2024, the leading food and beverage trade show in Japan and Asia. Held in the Tokyo area from March 5 to 8, 2024, Foodex Japan attracted 76,183 visitors (a 3% increase over last year) from over 60 countries/regions.

Aligning with other premium Canadian food and beverage products under the Canada banner, CBII Japan showcased premium quality grain-fed Canadian beef with a visually appealing display in the booth. The booth featured representatives from two Canadian beef packers and their major beef importers/distributors to promote their Canadian beef brands and programs.

Canada Beef’s Korean digital marketing activities
CBII Korea introduced its Korean-language website (www.canadabeef.kr) and Instagram page (www.instagram.com/canadabeefkr/) two years ago to raise awareness of Canadian beef and enable the Korean trade industry and consumers to access information about Canadian beef and CBII Korea promotional activities.

Since then, the number of followers on the Korean-language Instagram page has grown to 2,000.

CBII Korea’s recently renovated website introduced new recipes and web pages with up-to-date information on the Canadian beef industry, videos and vignettes, and various support materials and programs.

CBII Korea also publishes a Korean-language monthly e-newsletter which features Canadian beef export statistics, Korea’s beef import statistics, recent CBII Korea Instagram content, notice of CBII Korea’s activities, and meat-related news. Approximately 400 industry contacts subscribe to the e-newsletter, including importers, distributors, retail buyers, foodservice buyers, and chefs.
