Canada Beef attends Beef Farmers of Ontario annual meeting
Canada Beef attended the Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and conference in Toronto, Ontario, February 18-20.

The event kicked off with an evening Cattle Academy program, where representatives from the national industry organizations provided accomplishments, highlights, and updates of their respective current year business plans. Canada Beef President Eric Bienvenue presented along with representatives from the Beef Cattle Research Council, Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) Public and Stakeholder Engagement and the Canadian Beef Check-Off Agency.

Canada Beef staffed a booth at the trade show at the BFO event. The team highlighted projects, campaigns, resources and information

Tasting events helped demonstrate Canada Beef’s work with new cuisines from new Canadians as part of an overarching business strategy to promote under-utilized beef cuts, in this case beef oxtail and Shoulder Clod Petite Tender Roast, as bona fide contenders for everyday meals.

Roundtable discussions with nutrition experts, led by Canada Beef’s Health & Wellness Director, Karine Rekunyk RD, covered current health and wellness topics such as healthy aging, protein needs, iron deficiencies of Canadians, brain health and diabetes.

Canada Beef invests funding to facilitate in-depth understandings of beef’s nutrition advantages and how those fit into health concerns for health professional and consumer outreach. The roundtable is an example of direct-to-consumer and health professional outreach.

In other news, BFO delegates attending BFO’s AGM approved an increase of $1.50 to the national portion of the beef cattle check-off with strong support and a vote of 92 per cent in favour of the increase. Find BFO’s release here.
