Domestic Channel Marketing launches Retail Market Intelligence Report
Canada Beef’s Domestic Channel Marketing team recently launched a new report designed for grocery retailers. The Retail Market Intelligence Report (RMIR) is sent by Canada Beef to current NielsenIQ* subscribers and provides value-added information to support the development and growth of the domestic beef category. The report includes graphs and beef product ranking charts that are easy to read and provide value-added data for beef categories specific to retailer needs.

In addition to providing data, the report offers a high-level view of the beef retail landscape in Canada and provides a brief commentary recapping the latest 12-week trend including insights on market impacts and suggestions to assist category performance. The RMIR publication is sent monthly with each report featuring one of four categories including steaks, roasts, grinds and other.

The report also provides the opportunity to share marketing resources and materials and highlights how these can be used by retailers to support their promotional and marketing initiatives.

The first report focused on the steak category and shared information including national steak sales, national average price along with a number of in-depth charts related to steak sales in Canada. The report also had links to several resources that retailers could order to promote steaks at the meat case including the Canadian Beef Information Gateway, the Value-Cut Grill Program and the Grilling Guide Program.



Initial feedback from retailers included comments such as:
“Good recap, charts and graphs make it easy to understand data quickly.”

“Insightful commentary and recommendations, I am going to try one of the recommendations as it seems like a good idea.”
To further support retailers Canada Beef is also developing quarterly reports prepared specifically for individual domestic retailers to identify category-building opportunities and growth. Canada Beef will engage with retailers to recommend promotional, marketing and assortment initiatives to improve their sales, tonnage, profitability and market share.
