
Export Market Development program Q3 round up
From April 1 to December 31, 2024, 50 projects (35 completed and 15 in progress) have been approved under Canada Beef’s Export Market Development (EMD) partner program. Activities supporting Canadian beef suppliers and their international partners during the third quarter of this fiscal year continued to be very active. Among the projects completed:- Three separate projects supported the Ontario Beef Market Development Program to invite their distributors, retail and foodservice clients from Japan and Saudi Arabia to visit beef feedlots and beef processing plants in Ontario to further promote and grow the Ontario Corn Fed Beef brand in this market.
- A Canadian beef importer in Europe received support to exhibit at a major foodservice industry trade show in Spain to promote and sample their Canadian beef brand to foodservice industry professionals attending the event.
- Two Canadian beef suppliers received support to attend and exhibit in the Canada Beef pavilion at the SIAL 2024 trade show in Paris.
- A Canadian beef supplier received support to undertake a market development mission to Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines.
- A Canadian beef importer and distributor in Hong Kong received support to help promote their Canadian beef brand at a major retail shopping landmark in Hong Kong.
- Two Japanese beef importers and their clients received support to visit their Canadian beef packer suppliers to develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef.
- One Korean beef importer received support to visit their Canadian beef packer supplier to develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef.
- A Canadian beef distributor in Mexico and a Canadian beef supplier representative office in Mexico received support to host two separate incoming delegations of their Mexican foodservice industry clients.
- A Canadian beef importer and distributor in Taiwan received support to visit their Canadian beef packer supplier to develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef.
- Two different Vietnamese importers and distributors and their clients received support to visit their Canadian beef suppliers and Canadian beef farms and feedlots to learn more about the Canadian beef production and processing industry and to develop new export opportunities for Canadian beef.

Canada Beef’s EMD program provides cost-shared funding support to help facilitate export market growth for Canadian beef representative company-initiated projects and activities in five categories.
