Supporting trade in Indo-Pacific region, a key market for Canada Beef Canada Beef Incoming President Eric Bienvenue and Executive Director, Export Market Development, Albert Eringfeld were among the business leaders gathered in Edmonton January 17 to meet with Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development. Minister Ng addressed business leaders at a breakfast reception co-hosted by the Business Council of Alberta, Edmonton Global and Edmonton Unlimited. The Minister discussed Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and Team Canada Trade missions. Bienvenue, who officially assumes the role of Canada Beef President on April 1, will participate in a trade mission to South Korea led by Minister Ng in April. In preparation, Bienvenue, Eringfeld and outgoing Canada Beef President Michael Young will travel to Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Hong Kong in February to introduce Bienvenue to Canada’s main export markets in the Indo-Pacific region. The Indo-Pacific region is a key market for Canada Beef with four of Canada’s top six beef markets (Japan #2, South Korea #4, Vietnam #5, and Hong Kong #6). Canadian Cattle Association Executive Vice President Dennis Laycraft, and Alberta Canola Director Wayne Schneider, were also on hand at the event to represent the agriculture and agri-food sector.
