Canada Beef's EMD program starts fiscal year with strong momentum
Canada Beef's Export Market Development (EMD) Partner Program began the 2026–2027 fiscal year with strong momentum, supporting Canadian beef exporters in expanding their presence across key international markets.

During the first three months of the fiscal year, 27 projects have been approved, with many already completed or underway. The approved initiatives include 11 incoming buyer missions, nine trade show participations, three outbound market development missions, and four marketing and promotional campaigns. Activities span six export markets and are benefiting five Canadian beef packers through cost-shared financial support provided to Canadian exporters and their international importer and distributor partners.

Highlights of projects completed or currently in progress include:
  • International Buyer Missions: Importers and distributors from Taiwan (4), Japan (2), China (1), Vietnam (1), the Philippines (1), and Europe (1), along with their retail and foodservice customers, visited Canadian beef suppliers to strengthen business relationships and explore new opportunities for Canadian beef brands.
  • Trade Show Participation: Importers and distributors from China (2), Europe (2), South Korea (1), Taiwan (1), and Vietnam (1), together with one Canadian beef exporter, received support to showcase Canadian beef brands at leading international food industry trade shows.
  • Outbound Market Development Missions: Two Canadian beef exporters received assistance to conduct in-market business development activities, strengthening customer relationships and expanding opportunities in priority export markets.
  • Marketing and Promotional Campaigns: Importers and distributors in Vietnam (2) and the Philippines (1), along with one Canadian beef exporter, launched promotional campaigns highlighting Canadian beef brands and the quality and origin of Canadian beef.
Canada Beef’s EMD Partner Program provides cost-shared funding to support company-led export initiatives that help grow demand for Canadian beef in international markets. The program supports activities across five eligible project categories, enabling Canadian exporters and their partners to strengthen customer relationships, build brand awareness, and pursue new market opportunities.
