 Last March marked the launch of the Restaurant Gateway (Gateway), the latest phase of the Canadian Beef Information Gateway. This online hub celebrates Canada’s high-quality beef and the farmers and ranchers who produce it. The comprehensive resource features a directory of restaurant chains that promote Canadian beef on their menus, insights into the restaurant industry’s impact on local communities, and engaging videos from beef producers and chefs across the country. From March to November 30, 2025, the Gateway hosted its first-ever Best Canadian Beef Dishes contest, a nationwide competition inviting diners to nominate their favourite Canadian beef dishes. A panel of three chefs evaluated the submissions, reviewing photographs, menu descriptions, and ingredient combinations, to select the dishes that best represented Canadian beef cuisine. From filet mignon to beef bulgogi stir-fry, smoked brisket to beef tartare, Canadians submitted an impressive range of dishes showcasing their love of Canadian beef. The contest received over 1,300 entries, with Ontario contributing 550 nominations alone. A winner was declared in most provinces and regions, with provincial champions advancing to the national finale. Provincial winners received a $1,000 prize package, while the national grand prize winner took home $5,000. Winners were also awarded custom belt buckles and cash prizes. Canada Beef is proud to announce the provincial and national winners. British Columbia: The Kokanee Pub for the BC Burger Alberta: Modern Steak for the Modern Benchmark Showcase Saskatchewan: Rosie’s on the River for the Warrior Burger Manitoba: Block and Blade for the Pesto and Chutney Burger Ontario: The Black and Blue Restaurant for the Tomahawk Steak (also the national winner) Atlantic Canada: This winner will be announced in the spring when this seasonal restaurant reopens. Provincial winners received a $1,000 prize package, while the national grand prize winner took home a $5,000 prize package that included custom belt buckles and cash prizes.
