On July 4th, Canada Beef President Eric Bienvenue attended a reception in Ottawa celebrating American Independence Day hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra. He shared Canadian industry perspectives with Ambassador Hoekstra regarding the highly integrated nature of the North American beef cattle industry, the importance of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement and the impact of tariffs on consumers in the regional trade bloc.

While there, Bienvenue also met with the First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Canada, Kotaro Futata, and discussed the Japanese market and views on the chilled and frozen categories of Canadian beef.

In addition, Canada Beef was pleased to attend several agriculture industry-government meetings, events, and networking functions in and around the 10-day Calgary Stampede.

Canada Beef visited and networked with provincial and federal politicians, business and industry leaders, and representatives and officials at events such as the Canada–ASEAN Business Summit, the Alberta Beef Industry Summit, and receptions including the Alberta Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, the Calgary Stampede Agriculture and Agri-Food Reception, the Chinese Consulate in Calgary, and Taste of Western Canada Showcase.

Making new connections and maintaining existing relationships are important parts of Canada Beef’s work as we market and promote Canadian beef to the world.
