International Burgers with Team Koe

This past May, Team Koe came to the Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence for a "Burger Challenge".  Each team member learned some new tips and tricks for making a delicious beef patty.  Each team member was given a burger name and challenged to develop a new burger creation based on the name.  The guys were pretty creative. Try one or try them all.

 1 lb (500 g) Ground Beef
 0.25 cup each dry bread crumbs and minced onion
 1 egg, lightly beaten
 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
 Salt and pepper

Lightly combine beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper.

Gently form into four 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick patties

Place on greased grill over medium-high heat; close lid and cook, turning twice, until digital instant read thermometer inserted sideways into centre of each patty reads 160°F (71°C), about 10 minutes.

Try the following: Cheese bun, grilled pineapple slice, slices cooked bacon, slice of cheddar cheese, a spoonful each of salsa and guacamole.

Colton Flasch's Canadian Legend Burger:
Try the following: Cheese bun, slices cooked bacon, slice of cheddar cheese, sliced red onion, tomato, shredded lettuce and mustard.

BJ Neufeld's Eurostar Burger:
Try the following: Brioche bun, sliced avocado, sprouts, grilled pineapple slice, crumbled blue cheese, slice of Swiss cheese and mustard.

Kevin Koe's Samurai Burger:
Try the following: Marbled rye bread, avocado and red onion slices, slice of white cheddar cheese, jalapeno slices, tomato and a dash of soya sauce.
