Canada’s Best (beef) is supporting the best of Canada.

What is more Canadian than a partnership between Canadian beef and Canada’s curling champions?

Canadian beef is proud to support both Women’s and Men’s Canadian curling teams this year. Team members come from across the country and represent the best of the best – just like Canadian beef.

“We are thrilled to be supporting these top athletes in a truly Canadian sport,” says Francis Andres, President, Canadian Beef. “We know they will be tremendous ambassadors for Canada, the sport of curling and for Canadian beef.”

Team Homan is based in Ottawa, Ontario and boast multiple Scotties, Junior and Women’s World championships among its members. Rachel Homan (skip), Emma Miskew (third), Joanne Courtney (second) and Lisa Weagle (lead) have achieved a lot in a short amount of time. Homan is the youngest skip, male or female, to win a Canadian title and Weagle has a trick-shot names after her – “The Weagle.”

Weagle shares a love of beef with her family, and when they are all together it is a special occasion that calls for prime rib on the smoker. “My dad is the best Barbecue-er in the family…he’s got his secret recipe that he never shares with us. But being able to sit together and enjoy the meal he created is very special for us.”

The Men’s team is equally as successful on the rink. Based in Calgary, Alberta members come from across Alberta and Ontario. Kevin Koe (skip), Marc Kennedy (third), Brent Laing (second) and Ben Hebert (lead) have achieved success in numerous Brier and World Championships. Hebert was right at home when he visited the Canadian Beef Centre of Excellence recently. “I’m not the slightest of fellows so my teammates call me “The beef”. I’m good with that…I like me some steak!”
